5 Popular Dog Breeds For Children
Posted by: | CommentsWhen choosing a dog for your family, it’s an excellent idea to keep your children in mind. This is because certain dogs are not tolerant to children and can harm them. That said, there are many dog breeds to choose from. All that is needed is to research properly and see which dog works best with your family.
The Labrador Retriever is considered to be the best dog breed for children. The reason why this dog is widely accepted is because of its good dog nature and that its not very aggressive or hyper.
It’s a playful and intelligent dog and that’s why its its loved by the young and old people. Its also a first choice in working with the handicapped because of its mild manner. The animal is also very accommodating with people and can live up to thirteen years.
The Golden Retriever is number 2 in the list. Its personality is similar to the Labrador in that it’s mild mannered in nature, kind & enjoys being around people. The Golden Retriever is a good choice in working with the handicapped and the elderly.
This breed is great with older children who enjoy the outdoors because of their playful nature. Due to their long hair, they require regular grooming.
The third dog is is the Beagle. They are not aggressive even though they have a baying bark. This makes them good watch dogs. They have a friendly demeanor about them and you will notice that their tails seem to be in an unending wagging motion. Due to their friendly nature, they don’t like being left alone and become easily bored when left by themselves for long periods of time.
Another great dog is the Basset Hound. It’s a docile animal but is also known for its stubbornness. They are also known for being gentle and are quite sweet by nature. They love being with children of all ages and enjoy getting attention from them.
The German shepherd dog breed is another great dog. These dogs are a good choice for older children that like playing outdoors. Due to their huge size and strength, they are not recommended for younger children. German Shepherds are famous for their loyalty to their masters and are used for rescue missions. Being protective and tolerant in nature, it’s a good idea to start training them as pups. Without proper training, they can turn out to be a handful.
In conclusion, when choosing a dog for your family, do remember that there are always exceptions to the rules. Just note that though certain dog breeds are more friendly to children than others, always be cautious with your child around unknown dogs.

Beagle Dog Training: Simple Tips
Posted by: | CommentsFrom my experience, every beagle dog owner that I know say they love their beagle and wouldn’t pick any other dog breed over them. They are adorable and great dogs and have a friendly personality. Of course when it comes to training, most of the time you won’t find them so cute anymore.
Like a lot of dog breeds, the beagle dog breed has a short attention span and can sometimes be hard to train. Of course if you want to train your beagle, you will have to put a little more effort than with most breeds or you won’t see results. To train a beagle dog, you must have a lot of patients. Of course as the result of your efforts, you will have a well behaved and a happy beagle dog on your hands.
Beagles were originally bred as hunting dogs so this means that they are good at tracking down wild animals. This might sound like a good thing at first, but if you try to train your beagle dog, chances are he will pick up a smell, or a lead if you prefer, to something new and unfamiliar and will be distracted quite easily. They are also used to a lot of chasing a lot of running, so by nature they are very energetic. This too can cause of a lot of distractions, especially if your teaching commands like sit or stay where your beagle wants to do the opposite and run around.
To avoid running in these type of situations, you must pick the right time and place before you start training your beagle puppy. If you’re just starting training, avoid outdoors like the park or your back yard where there could have been another animal passing by recently leaving their smell for your beagle to track them down. You should also pick a good time to train your beagle dog. A good time would be when he is a bit tired and isn’t full of energy. Keeping the attention of a slightly tired beagle is a lot easier than it is to keep an attention of a beagle dog which is full of energy.
Remember that since you’re the owner of your beagle dog, it is your responsibility as a pack leader to train your beagle well. It is your duty to apply beagle training techniques to keep your beagle dog happy and healthy.
Beagle Breeding: Finding The Right Beagles
Posted by: | CommentsIf you plan on breeding two beagle dogs then the most important factors of beagle breeding is finding two perfect beagles for mating. You must look at the history of both the male and the female beagle. Take a look at the history of disease and other characteristics before you select the pair for breeding. Some characteristics might not show up in every generation so make sure you look a couple generations back for qualities that you want. As a beagle dog breeder, it is your duty to look for important characteristics that you want to pass down to the new generation and selecting the right mates to heave healthy beagle pups.
Of course you can’t predict the exact outcome of your selection, so there are still a lot of things that you’re leaving up for chance. However if you look at the qualities of the dogs, you will quickly notice some similarities and will have an easier time predicting the outcome of the offspring from the two dogs. For example, if you consider breeding between two beagles who are healthy but have a bad temperament, you will very likely end up having healthy but trouble making beagles on your hands. On the other hand, two beagles with calm temperament and outstanding coloring may give birth to beagles that posse’s good behavior and have great color fur coats.
Typically beagle breeding is a scientific process in which you must be careful about a great variety of factors including age, season, care, and many others. In order to have a healthy beagle with appropriate temperament, you need to select ideal pairs. The selection of both the parents is vital here. For example, you should not take a hound for breeding which has not shown enough talent in hunting. On the other hand, appropriate selection of female parent is also very important because she nourishes the babies even when they are within womb, or when they need to be milked, or when they need affection. So, it is very important to consider the current physical condition along with medical history, etc.
The ideal season of beagle birth is of course March and April. During these months, warm breezes are just approached while the harshness of winter is diminished. The pleasant weather is perfect for the baby beagles to play outside which is most crucial part to their development.
Beagle breeding demands professional expertise and knowledge. An experienced breeder is always aware of how to produce the superior offspring from two beagles. By analyzing different characteristics of the mating beagles including their color and temperament and health history, an experienced breeder is able to predict the possible features of the offspring with confidence. So, if you do not have sufficient knowledge about beagle breeding, it is better for you to count on a professional breeder who will definitely help you to find the ideal match for your beagle.
If you want healthy offspring, it is required of you to do well thorough research when selecting the male and female dog. Remember that although you leave a lot up to chance, your selection of the partners can help you predict the offspring of the pair.
Adopting a Beagle Dog
Posted by: | Comments
There are tons of ways that people try to pick out their new beagle puppy. Some may search the newspaper for advertisements from beagle dog breeders who are selling new beagle puppies; other people find beagle dog breeders through listings on the internet, while still more may simply purchase a beagle dog from their local pet store. Possibly the best technique, however, in terms of being helpful to society in general is to adopt a beagle puppy from a local dog rescue shelter.
Adopting a beagle dog brings a new companion into your home. It can also help to decrease reduce the number of unwanted and homeless dogs. Unless the shelter is a “no kill” facility (and these are unfortunately rare to stumble on), it may also save a dog from being put to sleep. Beagle dog lovers everywhere support the adoption of dogs from shelters as opposed to any other method of bringing home a new pet for this reason alone, but there are other reasons to choose the adoption option when looking to adopt a beagle dog.
- Adopted beagle dogs have had their shots
- Shelters often have information about a dog’s temperament and history
- Adopting a pet frees space in the shelter for more unfortunate beagle dogs
When you adopt a beagle dog you can be sure that the staff at the shelter has had the dog examined by a vet for disease and fleas and that the beagle dog that you plan to adopt has had its shots. You can’t be always sure about that with beagle dogs acquired by other means such as people giving away “free beagle puppies” from a box in front of the local grocery store or pet store.
Beagles dogs at a dog shelter are not just strays picked up off the street and often are given to the dog shelter by previous owners for different reasons. When this happens, the dog shelter collects as much information concerning the beagle dog as there is available, along with whether its good with family, how much the beagle dog barks, how mischievous or obedient it is, whether its housebroken, and other crucial details. While it’s possible that this information is only as good as the truthfulness of the past owner, most of the time it is quite accurate. Adopting a beagle dog could possibly save the dogs life and allows the shelter to bring in another dog in its place to be taken care of. So if you are looking for a beagle puppy for yourself, try your local adoption center and you might just find the beagle dog that you were looking for.
Beagle Dog Teeth
Posted by: | Comments
A lot of people don’t realize the important of good dental hygiene when it comes to dog. Just like humans, beagles’ teeth can build up plaque after eating. This plaque keeps building up if the beagle dog teeth are not cleaned and can turn into tarter which is a coarse brown substance. Tar can build up over time and get in under the beagle dogs gums which can cause painful infections for your beagle dog. So it’s not just people who suffer from gum disease and infections but beagle dogs as well. People however, brush their teeth two to three times a day but beagle dogs do not.
Brushing Beagle Dog Teeth
Most the vets advise dog owners to brush their beagles teeth at least couple of times a week. Brushing beagles’ teeth twice a week will keep the tartar buildup at minimum. You can buy a special toothbrush and toothpaste which is made especially for dogs. Do not attempt to brush your beagles’ teeth with human tooth paste. The dog tooth paste is designed especially to satisfy your dogs’ taste buds to make the teeth brushing a lot easier.
Beagle Dental Chew
It’s not always easy to get your beagle to let you brush his or her teeth. Sometimes your beagle will try to eat the toothpaste. If you can’t manage to brush your beagles teeth or simply don’t have the time and patients to sit there and brush your dogs teeth while he or she tries to lick off the toothpaste then you can try the dental chews. These dental chews will break down when chewed and will rub against your beagles’ teeth cleaning off plaque and tarter. It’s still not as effecting as brushing your beagles’ teeth but dental chews is a good alternative if you can’t brush his or her teeth.
Beagle Dentist
Dogs also have dentists just like humans do. So if your dog has a cavity or one of the tooth bother your beagle then you can always bring him or her to the dentist to get the tooth problem fixed. If you properly take care of your beagle dogs’ teeth then you shouldn’t have any problems. A visit to the dentist with your beagle can be costly so try to avoid it by taking care of your beagle’s teeth.
Housebreaking a Beagle Puppy
Posted by: | Comments
When you buy a beagle puppy your first goal should be to housebreak the little puppy. Remember that 9 times out of 10 the puppies are not housebroken when you buy them. So you will be left with the challenge of training your newly acquired beagle puppy to not pee or poop inside your house.
Beagles are one of the smaller breeds and their puppies are even smaller. This means that beagle puppies will have tiny bladders and will not be able to hold out for too long before they have to go pee or poop. It is your responsibility to take out your beagle puppy out for a walk so he can do his business every three to four hours.
You will also have to let the beagle puppy know that you are happy with it peeing or pooping outside. This can be accomplished by praising your beagle puppy whenever it goes outside and does his business or by giving him a small treat. After a while your beagle puppy will note that peeing or pooping outside will get him a treat and doing his business inside will get him punished.
If your beagle puppy manages to pee or poop inside the house, you should clean it up immediately. The odder tells dogs that they have done their business there before so they will be inclined to pee or poop there again. You can find a special spray that helps kill the odder to ensure your god doesn’t pee or poop there again.
Training a Beagle Puppy How to Sit
Posted by: | Comments
Training a beagle puppy to sit is probably the first trick that beagle dog owners teach their dogs. Training a beagle puppy to sit first is advised since the sit command comes in handy while training other tricks like stay and come here. Before you begin training the beagle puppy to sit, you need to find a good quiet spot to eliminate as much distraction as you can. You will need the beagle dogs’ full attention for training. You will also need some treats for training the beagle puppy to sit.
Once it is just you and the beagle puppy in a quiet environment you can begin training. Get your beagle puppy to stand in front of you and show the treat. While training the beagle to sit, hold the treat right above the dogs head. Holding the treat too high will result in the beagle puppy jumping after it to get it and that’s not what you want. Now move your hand towards the beagle puppy and tell it to sit. Naturally the dog would move back or sit. If your dog doesn’t sit during this part of training then try again by bringing your hand back in front of the beagle puppy and repeating the process.
When your beagle puppy sits give him the treat and pat him on the back. Keep training the beagle dog like this another 4-5 times or until it understands that you want him to sit down. Once you trained the beagle puppy to sit down while moving your hand with a dog treat towards it you can move on to the next part of training. This time while training a beagle puppy to sit, don’t move your hand. Just hold the treat in front of the dogs’ nose and tell the beagle to sit.
Eventually when your beagle puppy starts sitting down with a treat, you can try training it with no treat at all. It will take a day or two get the beagle puppy to sit. After you are done training it is a good idea to refresh the dogs’ memory every now and then so the beagle puppy doesn’t forget what you expect of it.
