Potty Training Beagles – Beagle Has your “Get It”?
Beagles are considered to be very stubborn dogs, that aren’t always easy to train. However, they are a very smart breed of dog and despite their very short attention span; they really do want to please you. Beagle puppies learn very quickly, but often it seems like they forget everything right after you teach it to them. This is why persistence is a big part of potty training beagles. While your cute little puppy may seem to be getting the hang of potty training, it is not always true and you may end up with a mess or two on your floor before you are finished. Something like this will happen from time to time, but if it happens more than once a week, you know you have a problem. Since your beagle doesn’t know any better, he may continue to do this until you train him otherwise. This is where persistence comes in again. You must be persistent when potty training your beagle. What this means is that you must keep training him even after you think he has “gotten it”. Continue to take him out at the same time every day, stand there with him and reward him when he goes with a small treat and lots of praise. Sometimes you must do this for 6 months or longer, but you will thank yourself later when you are not cleaning up mess after mess. If you find that your beagle just isn’t doing what you want him to, then you may need a little extra help because you may be potty training your beagle the wrong way. It’s true, 90% of puppy owners will teach their puppy the wrong methods. Don’t be one of these people, find out how to potty train your beagle the right way.
